Two Sydney seahorses are separated by a storm but reunited through a groundbreaking conservation project.
When a fierce storm destroys their seagrass home in Sydney Harbour, seahorses Pearl and Reef are torn apart by the wild waters. Reef is swept away and eventually rescued by marine scientists who bring him to Sydney Aquarium, where he gives birth to baby seahorses. Meanwhile, Pearl struggles to survive without safe anchoring spots.
Through a world-first conservation project, specially designed seahorse hotels are placed in the harbour, giving Pearl, Reef, and their babies a new chance at life together in their beloved Sydney waters.
This moving story of survival, science, and reunion is paired with incredibly detailed, atmospheric illustrations that capture the beauty of Sydney’s underwater world.

About the Author
Karen Hendriks lives by the sea in Shellharbour, Australia, where she snorkels with stingrays and turns into a story spy in coffee shops. Karen is curious and travels whenever she can. Her favourite places are in Europe, especially Greece, the Czech Republic, and Germany. She dreams to one day swim with whale sharks and wishes plastic didn’t exist because it’s killing our oceans.
Leanne Argent is an illustrator and artist based in South Australia. Leanne realised her passion for illustration when she created a children's book while at high school. The support, encouragement and excitement that followed has led to Leanne illustrating over 50 children's books, mostly in watercolour. Her love for people and the environment are displayed beautifully within her illustrations.
