See more100 remarkable, affordable and lesser-known wine recommendations from Noble Rot co-founder Dan Keeling
Walk into any wine shop and know what to buy.
“If you love a good tipple but can’t be bothered with wine bores and their bullshit, this is the book for you. You’re in the best possible hands.” Irvine Welsh
“The more you read, the more you want to pour a glass and taste. The ultimate dinner-party cheat sheet — just enough knowledge to sound effortlessly well-informed.” Keira Knightley
“If, like me, you love drinking great wine but never know what to buy, this is the only book you’ll need.” Dolly Alderton
“Dan celebrates beautiful wines and their makers. Drink in his wise words and your table will be all the better for it.” Fergus & Margot Henderson
“Pick Your Bottles was written for me. I like to think I know wine, but really I just like to drink it — now I sound like I know exactly what I’m talking about.” Angela Hartnett
If you’ve ever stood in a wine shop staring at rows of unfamiliar names…
If you’ve bought a bottle for its label and hoped for the best…
If you’ve suspected there are extraordinary wines out there but can’t quite find them…
You’re right. There are.
Pick Your Bottles is Noble Rot co-founder Dan Keeling’s guide to discovering them – the wines he loves to recommend. His secret is simple: the most exciting wines come from growers you’ve never heard of, not brands you have.
Whether you’re after something intriguing for friends or an easy-going bottle for a Sunday lunch that drifts into the afternoon, Dan will help you choose wines that are delicious, distinctive, and better value than you might expect.
Love rosé? He’ll take you beyond Whispering Angel to bottles with real character and none of the cliché. Across sparkling, whites, reds, and oranges, you’ll sidestep predictable labels in favour of lesser-known treasures that won’t punish your wallet. These are a friend’s recommendations to help you pick better bottles.
