Pattern Cutting by Pat Parish offers a fresh, creative approach to pattern cutting, encouraging you to think outside the lines of basic blocks. This third edition of the studio must-have provides you with all the inspiration, tools, and confidence you'll need to adapt basic patterns, experiment with new shapes, and translate exciting designs from the cutting table into polished garments.
Drawing on her 40 years' experience teaching fashion design, Pat Parish guides you through an accessible approach to translating imaginative 2D designs into exciting 3D womenswear. This book is designed to inspire creativity through transferrable techniques for any garment, with troubleshooting tips and tricks to help you apply them to your own designs.
Featuring over 200 images showing toiles, catwalk photos, and the construction process, alongside case studies and interviews, you will be able to visualise the concepts in 3D. Redesigned with an even clearer step-by-step layout, this third edition includes imperial and metric conversions throughout and showcases new work by more than 20 innovative designers using the bookβs techniques.
Additionally, there are two new chapters on draping and geometry, as well as updated information on sustainable practices, reflecting new directions in design, pattern cutting, and material use.
