In Her Own League

In Her Own League by Liz Tomforde is a Windy City Series spinoff that can also be read as a standalone. It is an age gap, forced proximity, single dad, ‘she’s the boss’, slow burn, sports romance read.

One of the things that stood out to me in the book was how Tomforde showed through Reese, how women are unfairly treated in a male dominated work environment and how difficult it is to be a female leader in these environments and to earn respect . However, I loved Reese’s resilience and ability to keep going no matter the challenges she faced in this environment and never letting it truly get to her.

It was a quick romance read and once the dislike and slow burn was over, the spice was spicyyyyyyy. The chemistry and banter between the two main characters was executed well and I loved seeing the undeniable attraction between them both. Two beautiful souls carrying many burdens who let their walls down and let love in, teaching us that it’s ok to be carrying burdens and to be vulnerable and to accept love from the right person.

The writing was addictive and I was very emotional finishing the book and closing the chapter on the Windy City Series. Monty and Reese had the perfect ending to an amazing series
