Hunters share a common affliction filtered through the generations from our ancestors: an overwhelming urge to see what lies around the river's bend, over the next ridge or beyond the faraway mountains. To some, it's a drug—and it's addictive.

Daryl Crimp (known to most simply as Crimpy) has it bad.

A lifelong hunter, he has spent over 50 years in pursuit of game, leaving his footprints in remote mountain valleys and alpine meadows as he stalks pigs, goats, red deer, fallow, sika, whitetail, tahr and chamois. But New Zealand can't contain him—other far-flung destinations beckon: Australia, Pitt Island, New Caledonia, Austria, Sweden, England, Africa and Lithuania. The diverse species he has stalked include wild sheep, chital deer, rusa, Austrian chamois, African plains game, European moose and roebuck.
