18-year-old Autumn Ackerman has always dreamed of a more magical world, but ever since she learned that she was one of the Night Folk, a race of incredible creatures that lie in the shadows of our world, the world has become a nightmare. Strange powers, family secrets, ancient enemies, and now her own father is dead, leaving Autumn with nothing but more questions about who she is and what the Night Folk really are.
But the one person who can answer her questions, the October King, leader of the Night Folk and Autumn’s grandfather, is dying, and the only hope of saving him lies in a place Autumn has only seen in her dreams, a place many of the Night Folk fled to centuries ago when humanity turned on them, including her grandmother—the Night World.
Now Autumn has to find a way to the Night World and unravel the secrets of the Night Folk to save her grandfather and her world. Along the way, she will face old enemies and new friends, and discover the truth about the Night Folk.

Matthew Dow Smith is a writer and comic book artist whose work has appeared in Mike Mignola’s Hellboy, DC’s Starman, and many others. He was the writer of the X-Files: Origins comic book series, the third volume of the Dark Crystal: Creation Myths graphic novel series, and several Doctor Who comic book stories for IDW, the BBC, and BBC America. He is the writer and artist of DC’s middle grade graphic novel Misfits of Magic, and creator-owned digital comics Amelia Shadows: Daughter of Darkness, Johnny Chaos, and Arch-Nemesis. He lives on the east coast of the US.
